“It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?”
Publius wrote this in Federalist #62 on Wednesday, February 27, 1788. This time James Madison, Father of the Constitution and the fourth President of the United States was taking Publius. At this time in our history, it is vital that we lean on the wisdom of the Founding Fathers.
President Obama’s stimulus bill stands at over 1,000 pages. In fact, politicians admitted to that nobody read the entire bill before voting on it.
This is not what our Republic is about. We live in a representative democracy. We elect our officials with an unspoken pact that they will act in our best interests. With no chance to even read a bill, there is no time to act with any interests. The only honorable vote is “no.” Even if you are pro-stimulus package, the only honorable vote is “no” to uphold their end of the bargain.
We urge you to let your Senators and Representative know that they did not live up to their end of the unwritten contract. In closing, we leave you with more words of wisdom from President Madison:
“In Republics, the great danger is, that the majority may not sufficiently respect the rights of the minority”
Just because the Democrats are in the majority in the Executive and Legislative Branches, does not mean democracy goes out the window.

It is time “we the people” take charge of our country. Ladies and gentlmen it is time for change and that change is simply two words “TERM LIMITS” The folks in Congress and The Senate have become power mongers. The longer they stay in power the less they consider the people they work for. Could you imagine working for a private company and been given a 1000 page marketing proposal to read, and you do not read the proposal and vote for it. Would not happen because people will know you did not read the proposal. Yet the very people who represent us, acknowledge they never read the stimulus bill, yet voted for it. Suggestion 1, all those who voted for the bill having not read the bill, should be impeached [which will not happen], so we the people should not re-elect them when their electin comes up.
Now lets think of “TERM LIMITS”
Two four year terms for Congressional and Senatorial seats only, life time. What does that mean, every two years we will see new faces, new ideas and individuals who have not lost contact with “we the people” No longer junior this or junior that, but reprentatives serving “we the people” and not some power hungry politician and lobbyist.
Next, pension are only paid out when they reach 62 (75% of pension) or 66 (100%) of pension, just like “we the people”
Change can only come from one source, and that source is “WE THE PEOPLE”
America stand up and demand true change, not some politicians retrick, but change that “we the people want”
Two recent examples of Washigton not listening:
1. Immigation reform – 75% of Americans said kick out the illegal imigrants and make them come back through the front door – did Washington listen? NO!!!!
2. Stimulus bill, 65% of Americans were against the bill, yet Washigton once again did not listen to “we the People” and went ahead and voted for the bill withour READING THE BILL.
Yes we want CHANGE – TERM LIMITS – is the start.
Good idea on term limit for Congressional and Senatorial seats. We need new blood in Congress.
